Private health rebates
Osteopathy is a recognised allied health service under most private health insurance "extras" policies. Rebate amounts vary by fund and the tier of your policy — typically $30–$60 per session, with some higher-tier policies covering more.
Bring your private health card to your appointment. The clinic processes the claim through HICAPS at the end of the session, and you pay only the gap.
Most major Australian funds are recognised at the three clinics — Medibank, Bupa, HCF, NIB, Australian Unity, AHM, Frank, Defence Health, GU Health, Police Health, Teachers Health, and others.
Medicare (Chronic Disease Management)
If you have a chronic or persistent musculoskeletal condition, your GP may be able to refer you under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan. This entitles you to up to five rebated allied health sessions per calendar year, with a Medicare rebate of approximately $61.80 per session (rate set by Medicare).
Eligibility criteria apply — speak with your GP. You'll need a referral letter from your GP before the appointment.
DVA (Department of Veterans' Affairs)
DVA Gold card holders can access osteopathy with a valid referral from a GP under DVA arrangements; White card holders are covered for their accepted service-related conditions. There is no out-of-pocket cost for eligible DVA patients with current referrals. Please confirm with reception when booking.
What's not covered
Cancellations or no-shows with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a fee — set by the host clinic, typically the full or partial consultation fee. You can cancel or reschedule online up to 24 hours before your appointment with no fee, and the booking system sends automatic reminders 48 and 24 hours ahead.
Some products that may be recommended as part of a management plan — for example bracing, taping, or referral for imaging — may have additional costs outside the consultation fee. These are always discussed before they're used.
